The health sector in Kenya has been struggling with inadequate and dilapidated hospitals. In Nairobi, there are just 115 public hospitals compared to 429 private hospitals. The reverse is true for Homa Bay County. There is no record of NGO run hospitals in Homa Bay as opposed to 51 in Nairobi.
According to the Nairobi CIDP 2017-2022, provision of adequate health should be prioritised so as to ensure a healthy populace. For this to happen, the county needs to provide effective and efficient health services to the residents by investing in constructing new facilities, as well as upgrading and modernising existing ones.
