Usambazaji wa Umeme Jijini Nairobi

Mkakati wa kuunganisha umeme ni swala ambalo lilipewa kipaumbele pindi tu serikali ya Jubilee ilipojinyakulia uongozi mnamo mwaka wa 2013. Mradi huu umeshuhudiwa kupanuka kwa kasi katika mji wa Nairobi. Sababu kuu  ni kumwezesha mwanachi wa kawaida kujimudu kimaisha.

Kulingana na ripoti la CDIP,  jijini Nairobi, takribani asilimia tisini na tano ya wakazi wameunganishiwa stima na shughuli zao nyingi kama vile mapishi, kuendeshea vyombo vya elektroniki, kukata hewa safi, kumulika na kadha wa kadha zimepigwa jeki kwa hatua hiyo. 

Asilimia mbili hutegemea matumizi ya mishumaa, asilimia moja hutumia sola na kurunzi na watu asilimia mbili hutumia mchanganyiko wa betri, gesi asilia, taa ya gesi, mafuta ya taa na kurunzi.

Kwa mujibu wa taarifa ya Benki ya Dunia, mradi huo wa usambazaji umeme kwa wenyeji wa Nairobi, umezingatiwa kwa kuhakikisha kuwa kuna gharama nafuu ya umeme. Aidha, vituo vidogo vya umeme na vyanzo vya nishati ya umeme inayotokana na jua vimeweza kupewa umakinifu. 

Lengo ni kuthibiti kiwango cha kutosha cha umeme cha kumfikia kila mwananchi kwenye kaya na maeneo ya biashara.

Benki ya dunia imeazimia kusambaza nishati salama na ya kisasa kwa wananchi kupitia mradi wa kuboresha huduma ya umeme KEMP na ile ya mradi wa umeme wa nishati ya jua au sola, KOSAP.KEMP. 

Pamoja na hayo, benki hiyo pia inaendelea kufanikisha mkakati wa KNES almaarufu Kenya National Electrification Strategy jijini Nairobi na sehemu zote nchini Kenya.
