Asilimia 98 Ya Watoto Chini Ya Umri Miaka Mitano Wapokea Chanjo Ya Polio Kaunti Ya Isiolo

Asilimia 98 ya watoto chini ya umri wa miaka mitano walipokea chanjo dhidi ya polio kaunti ya Isiolo katika shughuli iliyoenedeshwa mwezi Mei mwaka jana. 

Katika shughuli hiyo, kaunti ililelenga kuwapa chanjo watoto jumla ya 51,206 wenye chini ya umri wa miaka mitano. 

Kufuatia shughuli hiyo, idadi ya watoto waliopokea chanjo ilipanda kwa asilimia 98, kwa mujibu wa takwimu kutoka idara ya afya kaunti ya Isiolo.

Bi. Aisha Diba Duba ambaye ni naibu mkurugenzi wa idara ya kudhibiti magonjwa amedokeza kwamba katika kaunti ndogo ya Isiolo walikuwa wanalenga watoto 28,999 lakini idadi hiyo iliongezeka hadi watoto 32,110.

Katika kaunti ndogo ya GarbaTulla, watoto waliopokea chanjo ni 13,008 ikiwa ni asilimia 80, ikionyesha ishara ya kupungua kutoka watoto 16,090 waliokuwa wakilegwa kupewa chanjo hiyo.

Vile vile katika kaunti ndogo ya Merti idadi ya waliolengwa kupewa chanjo dhidi ya polio haikuafikiwa. Jumla ya watoto 5,107 walipewa chanjo dhidi ya watoto 6,117 waliokuwa wakilengwa.

Licha ya hayo Bi Aisha amedokeza kuwa walikabiliwa na changamoto nyingi , mojawapo baadhi ya wazazi kudai kwamba chanjo dhidi ya polio ilikuwa na mchanganyiko wa chanjo ya Covid-19.

Zoezi hilo lilianza tarehe 22 Mei hadi 26 katika kaunti 13 inchini, Isiolo ikiwa mojawapo. Kulingana na  wizara ya afya, watoto milioni tatu walilengwa katika shughuli hiyo. 

Hii ni baada visa vya polio kurekodiwa kaunti za Garissa na Mombasa.
